Traditionally, the last agricultural show of the year, has been renowned for the displays in the Exhibition Hall. Early new potatoes feature in the McCain Foods Fruit and Vegetable Section while the children can enter a fruit and Vegetable Creation! The Angel’s Share Preserves Section is always a spectacle with jars of jams, jellies, marmalades and chutneys. For the second show, a Fermented Section is included which proved popular in the inaugural year. If the chooks are laying well, competition for the best eggs is fierce. The Circular Head Garden Club run the Floral Art and Cut Flower area where roses and liliums feature.
The glass display cabinets showcase the cooking and handmade produce beautifully from bread, slices, cakes to decorated cakes and the much sought after prestigious first prize for the Christmas pudding and rich fruit cake. The Most Successful Exhibitor of Section K (Cooking) will receive an extra bonus sponsored by Smithton Betta Home Living. There are classes for all levels in the homemade products section from Junior to Novice to Open.
From 2023 the rule that cooking must be 24 hours old has been removed. Cadbury’s Mondelez to Lego section sponsors.
In the cottage industry section, there are some great prizes on offer for the beautiful work that is exhibited in this area sponsored by Stanley Seaview Inn, Nut Chairlift, Ship Inn, Stanley Hotel, The Ark, TOP Fish and Kimchi Me.
The Lego and Model Making Section sponsored by Tall Timbers, Smithton is always popular with the younger exhibitors and attracts a lot of attention.
Photography, sponsored by @The Beach and Cow ‘n Calf Gallery, attracts entries from all age groups and there is a dedicated Junior Section.
